I can already hear the anti gun protests stirring up

First of all, RIP to those 10 young souls and may their families find peace. Godspeed

It was inevitable that a large metropolis like Houston would experience a school shooting to make national and world news headlines. Now I fear protests are going to erupt around Houston and we will all be obstructed/inconvenienced by them...

If they’re in the street I’m going into a “hysterical sneezing episode” and not slowing down

before the news media reported, had someone popping off about the kid getting access to an assault rifle....

...then this glorious bit "I fully understand the difference between an assault weapon and a shotgun, one network incorrectly reported that the shooter had an AR 15, which IS an assault weapon. What I don’t understand is why someone keeps fixating on pipe bombs when it was guns that killed, not explosives and while I’m clearly upset by today’s events, I can’t endorse someone that can’t have a civil discourse. It was guns that killed or injured in all 22 school shootings, not explosives."

...then possibly, the best bit " the guns that were used have no other purpose than hurting or maiming. "

I'm sorry... I don't know of many 'guns' that aren't designed to hurt/maim and ultimately kill. Granted there's the flare gun and the ever evil potato gun... but let's be honest. Be it a 9mm, 45 or shotgun etc, they're all designed to do sufficient damage to render the target dead when shot in the appropriate vital area.

Originally guns were designed/used to hunt and kill animals, we just started target shooting for practice then evolved to the sport it is today. So yeah now we have purpose built target guns but that’s not why guns came to be

I believe those guns are also potentially lethal when pointed at the living.

Let’s not forget bows! arrow to the gut means a long slow smelly death. Slower rate of fire obviously but just as deadly. My Hoyt will never leave my side!

I know I’m relieved we didn’t catch any.

Probably because he used a shotgun and revolver. Doesn’t fit the narrative for assault weapons ban

In this case Mommy and Daddy should be sent to prison too. They let Jr have access to those guns and probably never paid attention to what that kid was up to. If my kid wore a trench coat to school every day when it's 90 degrees outside I'd be suspicious.

ok but my argument was to the media's guns ONLY use is to maim and kill and that is simply not true. I have LOTS of guns and while I have killed some with them(animals birds) most of my shots are at targets.

I think we can trace a large majority of our issues as a society back to poor parenting, but more specifically, neglect of the child. No attention, no affection, no communication, Ofcourse he’s going to turn into a stone cold monster without a nurturing environment

I have the thought all too often that people should be sterilized and reproduction rights should be earned

Pretty sure the folks at FOX News Network know that guns can be used for hunting and sport

I said that once and bigcomfy thought I was a monster. My idea was put somehing in the water to sterolize everybody and once they filled out the paper work that showed they are responsible adults and had the fiscal means to support a child the CPS or whatever agency would give the antidote so they could get pregnant. Think about it no more welfare and no more abortions. THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY WOULD HAVE NO REASON TO EXIST.

I am in no way comparing kids and parenting to my dog; but if she bites someone am I not financially and legally responsible? Same should go for parents.

An anti gun counselor type who goes from shooting to shooting DID show up in Santa Fe and was baffled that no one would talk to her, the most she got was I think a student telling her that issues about gun control are not appropriate in an emotionally charged atmosphere while they are all still grieving. The advocate is a surviving family member of the Aurora, CO theater shooting and has been to a lot of shootings and was just shocked that no one would speak to her.
