To each their own. I normally pick components out from parts express and run them active so I can pick their crossovers, time align them, etc.

These are the wheels I'll eventually pick up. http://houston.craigslist.org/ptd/5159864203.html

The sound bar seems to be the culprit for this garbage sounding stereo. See a lot of positive results on the interwebz with stuffing the sound bar with poly-fill to get rid of the tinny echo that it makes. Going to try this.

Are any of these sort of classic polished jeep wheels clear coated? Doesn't look like it when I look online but some of the shops are telling me otherwise. Ones like the pro comps 1069s, Crager Soft 8s, and American racing wheels. Really don't feel like having to polish them all the time to keep them looking nice.

The polyfil doesn't work either. I've tried it, that's why I bought the kickers. The polyfil does however change the sound. But whether it's for the better is up for debate.. I dont like it at all.

Did the kicker soundbar upgrade sound any better? Did you have stock head unit when you upgraded them?

Not really just a tad bit better on the mid's and high's. The only way I even notice it is when I have the tops or doors off so I have to blast the music really loud. I have the stock head unit. I didn't want to change it because my jeep has the Uconnect 730 package. Basically the best radio/navigation package the wrangler has to offer.

I heard it was a night and day difference from stock. Did you have the upgraded factory Alpine setup with a sub to go with the nicer head unit? Maybe that's why there wasn't a big difference. Well the newer ones have Alpine on the upgraded one. Think they used Infinity on some older ones. Not sure what year yours is.

The stock head unit is the issue. More so than speakers. Putting better speakers in in only slightly better due to the stereo sucking. It does suck that there is a factory amp in the mix. Its complicates installation slightly

the 730 system was a huge let down. More so with tops off and windows down.

Yeah, they tried to sell me on the upgraded stereo and it sounded like complete garbage just like the lower end one. Only difference was it had a sub that drowned out the horrible sound with bass. Just got one with the crappier stereo and will install my own. Only reason I considered is because it had bluetooth but I have heard even that doesn't sound very well so I'm just going to put in a new head unit with it.

I may not know about but I always liked infinity for mids - like 6.5"s in doors and JL for subs.

I still like the ID CTX65cs for any speakers under $200. Outside of that, Dayton RS225 and RS28a is the way to go. I wonder if I'll be able to shoehorn 8" mids into the Jeep anywhere...

Bluewave, end up getting one for yourself yet?

Jeep Wranglers 101 - need advice

I have a deposit down to hold a Sahara at 35.2 at gillman. I'm needing my truck out of the shop before I can conclude the deal. My trade has a locked up engine. My 2013 f150 fx2 super crew lost oil pressure and grenaded the engine. The engine is on back order. I just talked to the service manager this am. I'm trying to get their used car sales guy to buy it. It's under warranty but the back ordered engine is stalling things. I will take a tax hit on the new one of Ac Collins buys my truck but I'm willing to do that to be done with this mess. I'm driving a loaner Ford Escape at the moment and paying 10/day upgrade free from the fiesta they wanted to give me. I am supposed to hear back in a bit on what they are offering me. If I can get 24.5-25k I'll call it a done deal and go get my jeep today. Financing is set up. Only hold up is the truck being at Ac Collins with a blown engine

Don't forget to PM me your first and last name and I will send you a control number from Chrysler so you can get the friend's discount. May save you some money. I got $3k off mine with it. They have to give you the discount and the control number is good for 4 months.

LOL how the did they expect you to fit in a fiesta, through the rear hatch?

I got stuck in a Chevy Aveo one time, I was not happy.
