history repeating itself right now
back in 2016, I had a 2016 duke blow it's top. The dealership screwed me on warrantee work, so I was left with a new bike I couldn't ride. Ultimately, I wound up trading with a forum member for his Harley street bob.
fast forward to today-
I had a cool xs650 that I had been dumping money into and getting nowhere.
A guy saw my fb ad and offered to trade his victory kingpin. SURE WHY NOT?!
I don't know anything about victories, other than this is a big mamma jamma. the bike's wet weight is something like 680lbs. The gas cap is stuck and the battery is dead. I'm remaining hopeful that I can get it running tomorrow. fingers crossed. It looks really nice under the dirt. Previous owner says it sat in a yard for about a month, and the gas is from a year ago, when his brother filled it up.
Anyone have any ideas on how to get the gas cap off? I mean, I'm pretty sure I know what must be done. ... I just don't wanna! I think I've got to remove the tank and go in through either the pump or float hole and push the latch in on the lid to get it open.
Here's the only decent pic ive got of it so far. My daughter helped my dad and I with collecting the bike. She was blown away by the dude's car collection. A Pantera, Shelby Mustang, A/C Cobra, supercharged 1st gen MR2. Cool stuff to look at.

Hit it softly with a rubber mallet from several directions to work it loose. It will crust up and get stiff. Change the gas. Maybe lube the lock on the gas cap.
If there is any old gas in the tank, try sloshing it around in hopes that it acts as a solvent.

Great swap! As mentioned above, tap tap tap tap... tap it till it gets so annoyed, that it opens for you. Depending on the smell of the gas, you could probably siphon most of it and just top it off with fresh gas. Once you get her started, add some type of cleaner to the fuel system to burn off any build up from sitting so long.
