California - Lake Berryessa Ride
Awesome ride!!! Definitely worth the hassle to rent a bike and experience this route if you visit San Francisco.
From Napa, take 121 north to 128 north (towards Lake Berryessa). Take Knoxville road (runs along Lake Berryessa) until it turns into Morgan Valley road (continue on this road until you are in Lower Lake). Take 29 south (towards Middletown) to Butts Canyon road. Continue until road turns into Pope Valley road and look for fork where road turns into Chiles Pope Valley road (stay left to get onto this road). Chiles Pope Valley road will spit you back onto 128... if you go south, you will end up going back to 121 towards Napa. If you decide you need more riding, go north on 128 into St Helena and hang left on Madrona avenue. Take a right on Spring Mountain road and continue (road turns into St Helena road). Take a right on Calistoga road and continue (road turns into Petrified Forest road). Petrified Forest Road spits you back out onto 128 in Calistoga. Go south on 128 to get back to 121, which will take you back to Napa. It was such an awesome route ![]() |

Clearlake Ride - Northern California
Thrashing around the corners on 29 (between Calistoga & Middletown) IS AMAZING!!! Luckily, we went up it in the morning and back down it in the late afternoon. I will probably dream about those corners for the rest of my life, after we move back to Texas. Had a blast as usual
![]() Our ride deets: Started @ the Safeway in Santa Rosa, CA off Calistoga Road. Headed north on Calistoga Road > Left on St Helena (which will eventually turn into Spring Mountain Road), this road takes you right into the city of St Helena. Take a left on 128 (heading north towards Calistoga) > Once in Calistoga, you will take a right on Lincoln Avenue (which is 29, or will turn into 29 on the outskirts of Calistoga) and this section will be the highlight of the ride! Ride hard and fast (or chill) up to Middletown > Take a left on HWY 175 (north towards Kelseyville) and continue until you T off at 29 > Take a left on 29 (north bound) and continue around Clearlake to Upper Lake, where you will T off at 20 > Take a right on 20 (heading south) and continue around the opposite side of Clearlake. > Stay right when approaching 53 and take it south towards Lower Lake. This will turn into 29 (just stay straight at the end of 53). > Take 29 (south bound)... Follow instructions in reverse from Calistoga. |
