Thanks for that info! I got all my gear at Cycle Gear on Monday and picked the bike up On Tuesday. Still breakin her in but I’m almost at 200 miles so far. It’s amazing how agile this bike is. I feel like I’m riding my R6 in terms of leanness and weight but with a bigger motor. What I loved about the R6 was the high revving engine. It basically screamed the whole time you rode. I never knew anything about the cross plane engine but the sounds it makes are amazing! I wish I could slap a full exhaust system on there but apparently you can’t tune the ECU yet on this year model. In the meantime I have a fender eliminator and integrated smoked tail light on the way. I’m going to remove the passenger pegs and all the stickers to clean up the look. Really excited about this purchase so far.

That sounds hawtt! In the meantime can you replace the stock muffler with a slip-on? I realize a full exhaust system requires a tune with ECU, but can you get away with a slip-on and no tune needed?

There are some quite affordable Slip-ons you could install in the meantime, i if you don't like the sound and weight of the stock can.

Y’all are saying that the bike runs perfectly fine without a tune and I won’t be causing damage to the engine either? There’s a whole R1 forum saying otherwise lol

Personally...I would tune it lol. I'm just a careful person overall anyway. Especially if you got a standard warranty, if you get a full system exhaust and don't tune and something happens, they could blame your mod and then not cover engine/exhaust damage.

IDK. It's your bike and ofc everyone here feels you should do what you feel comfortable. We all have our lil suggestions, but in the end, do what you feel you can live with!

Fo sho! I'm going to wait for the ability to tune. It's the only performance mod I would be doing anyways so I'd like to do it the right way.

As stupid as it is, it's probably the other way around. If you swap the exhaust, don't flash and then your engine pops... you could likely put the stock unit back on and take it back to the dealer no worries. But if its been flashed, then I don't like your chances...

But yeh, I'd never take the cat out of a modern bike without being ready to tune it.
