HELP for building a bobber

I just purchased my first bike, Finally. I have a 2007 honda shadow spirit and looking to start building a bobber that is still comfortable to go 200 mile day rides.
I'm in need of any info, tips or members that could help with building experience.
On my list of modifications.
Getting a windshield from memphis shades for long highway days but removable when I want the looks.
Solo seat, but I want to keep my rear suspension as for now it's my only bike.
bobber fender with a sissy bar to take my daily bag off my back and save the little bit a back i have left @ 23 that I can.
anybody that can give me tips, also I know how to fabricate a bit but I don't have any of the proper tools or the right mind to get out how i want to build the bike some expertise would be nice thank you.

Great platform to chop up

I highly recommend keeping the rear suspension. Do not let anyone talk you into going hardtail... The bike just isn't designed to handle constant hits from the road and the tire only absorbs so much.... AND your tailbone will appreciate you more with shocks in the back.

Immediate mods you can do right now are cutting your rear fender short, or removing it completely. Also, removing your front fender as well.

Start looking at ideas online. I like the way they look with no handle bar risers and a straight bar (kind of like a cafe racer).

If you're going for a bobber, then that is a perfect platform to just try stuff yourself. Talk to folks for advice (like youre doing here), watch some youtubes and grab that angle grinder and start hacking. bob the tail fender, cut off and mounting tabs that arent needed, lose weight where you can and clean off excess stuff where possible.

The tail bobbing should be easy, just chop, smooth, repaint. If you prep right and get some tips online you can do a fine paint job with a rattle can and wet sanding.

Evaluate your tool need. There are lots of tools that you can go the harbor freight/northern tool route - like an angle grinder or rotary tool (dremel).

Fabbing up a sissy bar would be a next tier challenge. However, it only has to be as complex as you want. A torch and some small diameter bar stock can be turned into a sissy bar easily. You could also consider ebay/salvage yard searching for something you could hack up/modify to fit your need.

This is a great project to learn on. Good on you, and good luck!

Have fun, though. Dont get caught up in trying to make thing perfect, dont get hung up in mistakes.

I've found some parts to get me started the hardest is just trying to find a solo seat, the hardest part is every solo seat is made as a springer and I'm not spring a rear sprung suspension bike. trying to figure out how to get a seat to fit and I need a welder like I said I know how to do it all i just need the tools

Odds are someone on here will let you come use their welder, or rent one.

Consider chopping up your current seat. Pop the staples and pull the cover, shave the foam and cut the pan, then recover. If you screw it up, you were already looking to buy a solo seat anyway.

Looks cool already, only going to get cooler. Good luck, bud!
