I was never a club guy... have always been the "ice house" kind of guy.
Back in the late 60's, early 70's it was a place called the Packit on the edge of Pasadena (not in the city limits)
Over the last few years until I moved here to the Porter area, it was the Alabama, on what else... Alabama. I almost never drink anymore so I have not looked for a place here in Porter.

Like your list Hdsmth. Club 6400 was the top of the food chain, IMO. Allowed 18+ entry (remember the wristbands? Trying to pull them off and hand them to your underage buddy, lol.) when co-workers took me first time and I was hooked. Started going every Friday and Saturday regularly. Bummed when it burned down. Ocean Club, Xcess/Sharkdance (can't remember which came first) and Lizard Lounge (the old one!) soon followed. Remember when I believe Decadance (old theatre on Westheimer) would play Dangerous Disco on Sunday nights? Totally awesome before the retro-disco got played out. As kids we were too young to experience the disco craze in a club setting back in the 70's and it was new and fresh to us. They also had I believe .50 cent well drinks and we just turned legal age. Drank like fishes. What was the previous name of club Red Square on Louisiana? That place was cool, very urban and industrial similar to Power Tools. You also listed Avalon, If I remember, didn't they have a crazy age limit for entrance like 24+ older only? Strange. Feel very lucky to been able to go what I consider the Golden Age of Club land in Houston.

I worked at Decadance in1990 when 96.5 Energy was first starting out. They played us live on air Friday and Saturday nights until we switched to 93Q. Depeche Mode stopped by after their show, Nitzer Ebb hung out all night and Lenny Kravitz played an awesome show at my club. Celebrated my 21st birthday there with the most awesome work friends. Best year.
