Shady Tow Truck Drivers...

What a nine day ordeal.

Wife goes down 290 service road and makes the left turn around to go opposite direction. Car in front goes, wife seeís a hole and accelerates. Problem is the car ahead chickens out and my wife suddenly meets the cars bumper.

When I arrive the car she packs gets ready to drive off. Carrieís car requires towed, all her electronics have the car pretty much shutdown and locked down (car knew it was in a collision). Tow truck arrives and suggests to move car to gas station to do paperwork and avoid a potential citation

When we get to gas station guy wants to get us a rental car which we decline. We pay a premium in insurance for cases like this. Then he goes on to suggest a shop and we decline again. We know from experience (ainít no dang women in my house who can drive for ) to let insurance handle everything. We separate ways and he hands us a paper for the holding lot.

The tow truck driver continues to message us on FB, text messages and numerous phone calls. Finally I tell him politely to stop, that our insurance will handle it.

Geico calls us today and states they are unable to get the car released. The holding facility and tow driver are not answering calls. Asked if we could potentially help.

After a all morning investigation, we find the car at Cypress Collision and Repair. The reviews on this place is absolutely terrible. And because the car is at a repair shop instead of a holding facility, charges rack up considerably.

So, $901 dollars, another tow truck driver and the sheriff on the ready we finally got our car back.

DONíT USE ASK-M TOWING & RECOVERY

Rant over, and yesó-I feel better.

I learned a long time ago, if you have an accident and you canít drive the car, have it towed to your house, not a lot.

Should have had it towed home or the shop you were going to use. Only two options.

Also, do not sign a tow slip without a price on it. They will enter a $1000 or more price on you in a heartbeat. Agree on a price and go from there.

If there's one guy here who knows about the trustworthiness of a tow truck driver, it's this guy. What was the result of your case w/ them? did they get any time? (Is that something publicly sharable?)

The two guys who drove the car were given 2 years deferred on felony unauthorized use of a vehicle, not required to pay any restitution. The third guy who just rode along had charges for trespass dismissed.
