UVerse TV

Anyone have UVerse TV and wish they didn't? I had it 2.5 yrs ago when we moved here and it was awesome...when it worked. We changed out the equipment a few times but the picture would lag and freeze up quite a bit. It would behave much like DirecTV during a massive storm. We are right by one of the UVerse hubs too--makes no sense.

We have had DirecTV for over two years now with no problems, mind you it hasn't rained in over two years in Houston. The DTV service has been good, but it me off that Sunday Ticket costs over $300 and that despite paying $199 for an HD dvr up front, they still charge a monthly rental fee for it.

I am hoping that the Uverse infrastructure has had time to improve since June '09.

We got Uverse for TV only and when only the first TV was plugged in there was no lag or freezing. When I decided to add the 2nd TV the issues began. My solution was to reconfigure the splitter set up so there were no dead lines also being fed the signal and that solved the case for both TVs.

Moral of the story..ever had your internal wiring checked?

Just an FYI from someone that used to work for DirecTV, hd dvr will run you more like 500 if you bought one outright.

i had it for a year, and only had a few issues, but it ended up being bad lines for the whole subdivision. They fixed them, and smoothe sailing for about 6 months. They dont offer it out here so i have comcast.

I get raped with Cumcast for $70/month, but I make up for it in downloads.

I've had DTV for almost 10 years now, never a major issue. Even bitched about the price and they knocked it down for me. You may have the occasional signal break during a storm, but at least you know it will come back after the storm passes. With the Comcast, when the cable goes out you have no clue when that comes back.

From the little experience I've had with uverse, their hardware sucks. If you're using uverse for TV and internet, you're much better off getting another router to handle your computer traffic as the uverse box will the bed if you're downloading anything.

wife decided to go away from Uverse, so she decided on directTV

tech comes out at 5 (4-8 was the time window) no biggie, um sir, i need to pick up my kids in 2hrs, and its gonna take a while.......while its not that big a deal, i also don't want to be stuck to my house again, he calls his sup. leaves a message. he starts work, leavest 6 to go p/u the kids, gets back at 7:15

sir do you have a ladder, mine's to big to get under the eavesment. yes he borrows my small ladder

sir do you have hammer, my drill just broke and i can't drill into the concrete, he borrows my hammer

so then we try to figure out where to enter the house. i currently have uverse and have a single point of entry and my house is prewired for tv and cat5 in every room

sir do you have a flashlight, i can't see in your attic, he borrows the flashlight

in the end, we decide he can't find the access point, this is 9pm by now.

so made an appt again in 2 wks, first call of the day w/ a supervisor on hand.

we had a prob. w/. uverse a bit back and they came out and replaced the boxes after 3 yrs., the 2nd box isn't setup right, but we really don't use that tv much.

we're mainly going to direct to loweer our cable bill fom $120 to $50/mos

Why not just get comcast for everything and be done with it?

b/c comcast sucks worse than direct tv during a hurricane.

I constantly had internet issues with Comcast and the Cust. Serv. was a joke at best.

Ive had small issues here and there over the past 5 years, but honestly, it kicks . WAY faster/cheaper internet.

TV is a toss up, to be honest, DTV might be a little better as far as price and selection though.

Comcast has never really let us down.
