Need some advice.

Ok, so Iíve had this guys Fz01 sitting in my garage for a year now. He has yet to come up with the money for me to start working on it. Most heís done in a whole year is remove and take the rusted gas tank and the exhaust.

I told him I want it out of my garage ASAP because I want the space. That was over a month ago and I havenít heard from him since. Iíve completely lost contact with him and he wonít return my texts or calls. I know for a fact that the title hasnít been put in his name, if he even still has the title. It looked like itíd been washed 30 times and was almost illegible last I saw it.

So... what can I do with this bike? Can I sell it, and if so, would he be entitled to any of the money if he randomly shows up? He owes me over $400 for storing it for a year in my garage anyways.

Maybe this is a question for Fresnel. I'd shoot him a PM at least. I would assume that you are in the clear to liquidate the bike to cover the cost of your storage fees after a certain point.

It's abandoned property. You can do what you wish with it.

Link to the laws that support that statement?

Iíd ask for pics before making an offer rccarlson22 and hondarider77. Engine is good, I was able to jerry rig the wiring to do that much at least, frame is good, too. Thatís... about all I can say positively about this bike. No fairings, gas tank, exhaust, handle bars, front lights, the wiring harness is bad, battery is dead, tires are old, rims need repainted, chain, sprocket, and brakes need replaced, and only knows what else.

It was supposed to be an awesome project for me, but the guy never paid me to get the parts and only brought me parts from different makes and models. I was confident I could rebuild this bike with the PROPER parts, but Iím not Frankenstein.

I was three months late on my RV in storage ( going through a divorce ), and the place in question put my trailer up for sale. Haha, don't know if that helps, I ended up paying them and getting it back, but when I asked my divorce lawyer about it, he said they were more than allowed to do just that. This was a 30K dollar toy they wanted to sell to recoup the cost of like 240 dollars in storage fee's. I don't see how it would be any different for a broken down bike.

Yeah, but Iím sure it was there in fine print on your written agreement that they could sell it. I have noting on paper with this guy, which I guess is my boo boo. Lesson learned. I sent him another text today telling him he has until Sunday to get it out of my garage. After that, itís up for grabs.

It really didnít look that bad for an 02 until he started taking off it, but if you plan on keeping it naked, I donít foresee it costing a fortune to fix up if you can to the labor yourself, just more time and money than Iím willing to put into a bike that I no longer want to buy off the guy or work on FOR him.

If money has not exchanged hands you no longer have a legal duty to store his property. Make sure you save all texts/emails/phone records of attempts to contact this slacker and any he has sent you.

I will contribute a gas tank and some handlebars, but they are from a Gen. II, so wouldn't fit properly. All I was thinking was it might be interesting if you could get it running and ride just enough to see about the power level, etc. Would be a significant increase over the 300. The wiring harness might be a limiting factor though. Pardon my rambling.

Hey WABFZ1! Long time no see! The reason I want it gone is to make room for the 650 ninja I plan on getting this summer/fall.
