Not if you ride it & maintain it properly. These bikes can go well over 100k and beyond without any major failures. Yes, 38k is high relative to the year model, but hardly "high" in respects to the life of the bike.

Not saying it's unheard of, but $3k doesn't seem insanely cheap for an '08, especially if it's got that many miles on it. I'm guessing that was likely a typo though.

I guess if you want to go into the purchase with the mileage as your leverage. $3k is a good deal even with those miles, as long as service has been kept up at the correct intervals and he has all the documentation to back it up.
