Will SHNF Ever Reopen?

Feels like no matter how much work is done, SHNF is always closed.

I know several people that were active in cleaning it up are no longer around but besides the Sam Houston Trails Coalition is anyone else out there?

I would like to volunteer to help to get the trails back open before its too hot to ride.

The problem is you have to have a permit of sorts to work on the trails. I would head up to the ranger station and see if they have any info. Im down to help but it being so far from me, its hard for me to get out there, especially since im bikeless right now.

So I got in contact with the Sam Houston Trails Coalition, the non-profit group that has been maintaining and volunteering to keep the trails available.

The Motorized President, Ed Ponikvar, pointed me to the website where we can organize volunteer days with as little as two people.

Below is the link:
https://www.samhoustontrails.org/get...rkday-planner/

I plan to start organizing days to go out and survey then begin rebuilding the trails.
Keep an eye on that website and I will post up here when I do.

So are the trails closed due to lack of maintenance? Be a shame to go put time in and them never open.
