The bike you didn't like until you rode it
What bike you didn't like until you rode it?
In my case it was the kawasaki ex500 Myla had it, when I first got to know her. IMO,that bike was ugly because of the Koi fish paint job and it just didn't look right to me, but once I rode it at the 3 Sisters, I just couldn't have enough... It's just so easy and fun to ride, I remember a bunch of us swapping our bikes with Myla to have a chance riding it... Well, Myla end up riding all kinds of different sport bike brands, which she sold the ex500 and got herself a newer R6 ![]() ![]() |

I grew up in a super conservative family.
My pa bought a new 89 Bridgestone 90. I learned to ride on that. Then he bought a new 72 Rex 100. EVERYTHING was backwards. Then he bought a 74 CB360 and rigged this YUGE stupidass windjammer on it and a CB radio. I rode that thing for years and I really him off when I took off the jammer and the chain guard he built. And THEEEEEN.... Sport bikes started coming on and conservative pa said only ride those murdercripples (that was his word for motorcycle) I hated them to (because I liked my pa and respected his intelligence). I bought my 90 KZ LTD 1000, fully loaded. He really liked that one. I liked that he liked it. Do you believe that I was getting almost 50 mpg with my fat wife on the back??? And THEEEEN..... In 94 I traded my 89 Cutlass Supreme for my friend's 89 10R. ... pa..... Ima Sport Bike Hero!!!!!! I was so nervous when I brought it over to his house to show him. I didn't tell him I was gonna buy an animal like that. Now he's dead. Cracked up his bike on the highway and took a dirtnap. (I captured a few pix from the intrawebs) |

havent had a bike that i thought i'd hate until i rode it, but i have had the opposite. maybe it's just my history with vfr's, but i'm all about the sound and gear driven cams, v4, single sided swing arm, all that- but i havent been crazy about the ergos, the engine is smooth, but kind of boring, and it generates more than a bit o heat.
iv'e had a love for sv's ever since my 1st bike, an 01 sv. i'm on my 4th sv now, and something like my 20th bike. i keep wanting to get a ninja 500 or gs 500. the simple p twin's look so enticing. it's such a simple design, too. esp the naked suzook. i will own one eventually. |

A ninja 250. Fell in love with it until the 300’s, 390’s, and now the 400’s came out. It made racing affordable.

Back around 1990 a mechanic friend who worked at another shop by me bought a 75 Goldwing not running. The first year they were made. Can't remember if it was because of running it on bad fuel or one of the timing belts broke, but he had to pull the heads to do a valve job. One he got it sorted out he let me ride it and I was really surprised how well that bike rode and handled. I thought I was going to hate it.

I don't dislike many bikes. And I find something cool in any bike I ride. I have brand preferences but I don't dislike any bike. They all are worthy in their own way.

I liked everything with 2 wheels I rode. Harley Softtail (or whatever they call it - 1200 cc I think) was one I didn't think much off until I rode it in California. It wasn't too bad. Scraped the out of it, but it was fun.
