MotoGP 2018

Testing getting underway in Sepang already

Stoner quickest as he breaks in the ducati in first day of private tests

https://www.gpone.com/en/2018/01/24/...in-4-laps.html

Also Tech3 looks to have a job interview lined up with Jonney Hernandez to replace Folger alongside Zarco.

Was curious if we would have seen Colin jump in and head to the airport with his ridding gear I actualy think he would be able to help yamaha out of their rut regarding developmemt direction.

He certainly has the skills, but it seems he doesn't have the desire to endure the grind of the long season (only getting longer as they talk about making it 20 races). Its not often you see a guy have that kind of success and walk away while still in his prime. All things told, he has a pretty sweet gig as it is.

He is an extreamly fast test rider, but more important was Lorenzo. He broke the track record topping the timesheets in the final day of testing and did so being quickest in the long straight&heavy braking areas, first and last sectors, of the track. A sign he has come closer to Ducati in adapting to its natural strenghts.

While Ducati was stealing the head lines what stood out to me is Marquez was actually the quickest the soonest before switching over to race run mode. Starting with just his first flying lap Marq was already in the 59's, and rolled off a low 2:00 and another 59 before going out to make what would be his quick lap for the day.

Marq was already in the pits setting up for his long day ahead before the others even dipped into their first or second laps in the 59's. That Marq's time held fairly close to the pointing end and still managed to do what he did the rest of the day (setting blistering race pace) is a sign that he got all he wanted out of this test and then some.

Yamaha looked good in the sweeping turns setting quick sector times there. So in balance they won't be far off when come to tracks made up of more flowing middle gear and higher turns. Up next (this weekend) will be a new to motogp track. Everyone will be watching Ducati as this track (another Herman special) is esentially straight lines, heavy braking joined by some low speed and 90deg turns, which should suit them.

Looks the championship won't be decided until the last race.

I think Zarco has one more year where he will be inconsistent enough to not get top 2 possibly 3 in points standings... But a factory team should pic this guy up for sure.. He's going to be one of the top 3 guys in the near future... And I contend that Rossi wins the championship and never wins a race..

I hope you're right. Not sure though but really fo hope so... He seems to have trouble looking at the big picture and plays in to what the other racers want him to do i.e. changing as hard as possible and wasting his tires or crashing. Zarco is a beast of a raider but if he's not careful he'll never have a chance to when a championship. That being said, top 3 or 5 in a championship isn't bad thing either. Vive la France!

He reminds me of a young Kevin Schwantz!
