Need Some Advice
Well I just went down on my bike, I'm okay, was just a little or maybe a lot shaken up. The guy in front of me was taking a green light slowly at first and then proceded to speed up. He thought a car was comming to his right so he suddenly stopped. I was able to hit both my brakes, bike fell to the right which is also the way I went. Didn't hit his truck. Guy got out and made sure i was okay and we moved out of the way. He gave me his insurance info and he even followed me to make sure I made it to the house.
I'm not sure if his insur. will pay for any damages, since usually the one in back is at fault. He said he would let his insur. co. know what happend. Am I stuck with this bill or are there any certain ways to go about it. I know we have a guy on here that works with insurance. Trying to find his info now. Any insight would be appreciated. Keith ![]() Thanks. |

Sorry to say Keith, but not his fault.
Much less that there was no vehicle to vehicle contact. |

I had a similar thing happen to me in my WS6. A lady was stopped a red light and when light turned green she took a right to get on the feeder. Out of no where she slammed on the brakes because she heard an ambulance. Needless to say I bumped her. All the cars going straight took off and cleared the intersection no problem. We'll the cops were called an I got a "failure to control speed" ticket.. So good luck. Sounds like a nice guy, but honestly lawfully it's your fault.. Just my 2 cents.

The dude should tell you to slow the down if you are wormy enough to call him and bug him. I wouldn't call him. He went out of his way already. He was not at fault

You'd need to have 'collision' coverage on your policy; his insurance is irrelevant. Also need to figure out what the repair cost will be, and what your deductable is, before deciding if it'd be worth it to make a claim.
Whatever you do, DON'T CALL YOUR INSURANCE AND TELL THEM YOU WRECKED! - that is, unless you've decided to file a claim. If you tell them on the phone that you had an accident, it goes on your record, even if you don't file a claim. Ask me how I know... |

How much slower could I have been going? Come on now I wasn't speeding, doing anything stupid, maybe taking my eye off of his vehicle for a second to see if any vehicles were coming from my left or right.

Its your fault man, just be glad it wasn't going 90mph like me yesterday.
I was on I45 on the curvy section just going through town, and I already had my target fix, however the truck in front of me slammed on his brakes, since i was in the far right lane turning left, I didn't have much of a choice, i almost thought I was headed for the wall. but somehow i was able to slow down, and reset my line a second time. You can't follow close on a motorcycle, especially in a turn. |

Then why did you drop the bike? Seriously, it's not his fault. Rules of the road make it your fault. You were following too closely if you were on a ss bike and couldn't stop in time. I'm not trying to sound like a or bust . I'm just saying what I think. You anticipated one thing and another thing happened. We can never assume what the cagers in front of us will do. Your best bet is to leave yourself an out in the future.
