350 was never imported to the states. I owned a 250 for a short time, it's the plated one that someone on twtex is building up for there wife. That kinda sums it up. I ride trials and off-road and unless you plan on riding somewhere like Emma Long it's not a very good trail bike for a full grown man. Just my opinion from experience. The stock suspension is basically off the ktm 85, the brakes suck and even with a special head from slavens racing, a jd jet kit and fmf exhaust it still did not run well. It was a cool concept but had some real issues. You may consider the Beta x-trainer as an option. I am a life long ktm owner. I drank the cool aid along time ago. I swear by the orange machines but the 250 free ride was a real let down.

I don't think they ever made any significant changes to the bike and a lot of the parts are not interchangeable with other ktms like the non power valve cylinder for starters and the funky subframe. I would worry about parts availability in the future.I do not believe it's been imported for a couple of years now. Only the e-ride if I'm not mistaken.

The new Huskys are just KTMs with a few minor changes. The KTMs feel taller to me even though the specs are the same for many of the Japanese bikes. My KTM feels like I'm climbing onto a horse compared to my Yamaha. I think its the ergonomics. They feel wider to me as well which is probably just the larger gas tank because I've only been on the enduro model KTMs. The Suzukis and Hondas always felt the shortest to me.

The Huskys and the KTMs make the most horsepower. Their 250f motors make almost 45hp which was 450 territory not too long ago. The make a lot of top end power so you have to ride the out of them. I prefer the motors on the yamaha four strokes. Makes more low end and mid range power.

Brandon the Freeride 250 is supposed to be good on the low end. It also has a lower seat height which I like, having a 29” inseam.

Plus. At your age you don't need too much power anyway.
