Welcome Rick! I recommend you take her to a MSF class and both of you take the class together. If she enjoys riding and the riding experience with you, her "approval" will come effortlessly.
If she refuses, you could just tell her, it's something you've wanted to do and how riding would positively affect you; and that you would appreciate her support on this. You could also take the MSF class and receive your endorsement
(if you don't already have it) and start to purchase your gear first,
before the bike.
This will ease her mind and she will appreciate that you are making the necessary effort to ride safe. Hope this helps and I hope you will have the chance to ride.
