Can't believe I am going to ask this....what should I sell my gixxer for?

This decision has been weighing heavy on me. I love the bike but I just don't ride it anymore. I primary used it for track. Everytime I rode on the street I was wheely'n that getting in trouble with the law. i have also bought a sxs yamaha yxz 1000 and spending tons of money on it. So my wife said something had to go.

So I took off slicks yesterday and put brand new street tires on it. It's also got ohlins rear shock and ohlins 20mm internals 2005 gsxr 1000 with around 8800 miles. Think 5k is a good strarting price?

I mean what will my name be now yamibill? It just don't sing like gixxerbill does.

Since gixxer is synonymous with poser, you can just leave the name as is so long as you don't purchase another sport bike.

Your bike is in pretty good shape if I recall. No major get offs, no cosmetic damage and relatively low miles. Ridden hard, yes, but probably well maintained. Id think you could start at $5k, especially if youre throwing anything extra in with the sale (stands, spares, etc). Im about to take my 06GSXR1K to Patrick and plop a couple grand on the table to get the ol girl freshened up.

If was me, I would keep it.
Unless if you are buying a brand new bike with all the new technology to fulfill a dream to own a new bike kind of thing...
Just my 2 cents

Just FYI, this is the kind of track bikes available out there for less than 8K
This one was sold for $6900... I know is all the way in San Francisco but still a great bike. I bet for another 500 bucks it could have been crated a shipped over here

To keep. Its not in as good of shape as yours, and has about 3x the miles, but I wouldnt sell it for $5-$6k (even though its not worth that much). I love this bike too much. I havent even ridden it in a year and a half (hence going to Motorcycles Unlimited to get freshened up), because I keep getting sent out to emergency responses back to back.
That being said, I dont ever see myself getting rid of it. Im going to have Motorcycles Unlimited change the juices, clean the injectors, do a valve adjustment, new rubber, new chain and sprockets and hang a set of hong kong fairings ive had sitting for a couple years. lol.

I know it's really hard for me to say goodbye to it. Just don't ride it anymore especially now with side by side yxz. I think mine and yours are the best gixxer years ever. But I'm so far from the track and the yxz got a cage when I push it too far

Buy a cover for it. Put it in the corner of your garage blocked in by the Wing and other stuff. Your wife will forget about it real quick...what you don't see...

You don't need the money and I can't imagine space being an issue. You'll regret selling it.

I miss my 02 R1. I know it got flooded and I couldn't keep, but there is something special about old analog liter bikes....so keep it.
