Replace Rings Only, or Rings/Pistons Together?

I'm tearing down my YZF600R to replace 2nd gear. Cylinders had to come off to split cases, so I'm looking at everything I find along the way. The engine has seen 80,000 miles.

Even though I was not having compression issues before tear down, I'm not liking the idea of going back together with old rings that will not likely line up or mate back up as they did before they were pulled. Yamaha service manual calls for replacing rings and pistons as a set if you are going to do it. What are thoughts on just replacing rings?

Pistons all look decent for 80K.

Cylinders are all clean and still cross hatched. Only markings are at the bottom of the stroke where the piston reverses direction.

Rings only. Measure the bores top to bottom of the cylinders and see if you can keep standsrd rings or go up in size. Rehone and slap it together.
