Hi all, new member to Houston and the forums here. I'm in the process of transporting my bikes from Florida to Houston. I'd like to hear about any recommendations for some nice scenic routes outside of the city. I've been told that FM 149 is a great route. I'm hoping to tackle this and a few other roads sometime in the fall/winter as time allows. Goal is to tour the Big Bend area when time allows, would be great to read stories/view pictures from members here who have toured Big Bend and get some advice.

Welcome.
Once you get settled in you should attend the Monday night meets.
149 is a nice ride typically and if you do it right you could meet up with Morgstang and join in on his rides.

Here are some pics from our trip to Big Bend. Went last year. I would definitely wait for it to cool off a bit.

Which bikes? I see your name is ADVrider, yet you have a 1000rr listed.

I assume you have a more suitable bike for long distance travel? Curt (MaxGs) does quite a bit of ADV riding. I have several routes, both semi local(west and north west of houston) and out in the Austin area that are great for ADV and sport riding. I also lead several rides throughout the months of February till November. Look for Keith's (Morgstang) rides as well if you want to get acquainted with the "country roads" that many of us enjoy.

Welcome to MotoHouston! Glad to have you. How did you hear about us?

man, based on those pictures, it seems like you and the group had a nice time! Good to know beer was plentiful during the trip.

Hi Chris, I only have the CBR here in TX so that's why I listed only that bike. I had a 650gs back in Florida that I recently retired after many miles. Stealing my brothers CRF 250L eventually when I'm back in the sunshine state.

I'll check out some of your post history as time allows to see the routes in the west and NW of Houston you speak of. They are exactly what I'm looking for as I haven't been out to Austin in ages and certainly never on a motorcycle. It just seems like I never have the time or when I do it's 100+ degrees and cagers are out in full force

I just googled "Houston motorcycle routes" and on the second page I was referred to this page:
https://www.motohouston.com/forums/s...d.php?t=312520

I saw your guys post about Sammy's Cycle Bash, doubt I'll be able to make it but sure seems like fun based on the cyclist videos I saw on youtube riding in Fulshear. Got one more item on my never ending checklist
