If you look at ZX10s, stick with the 2011s and later.

04-05s' are cool as , but they are called "Widowmakers" for a reason. And the charging system is terrible, it disengrates into metal chunks in the engine.

06'-10's are goofy looking on the nose, looks like they have an identity crisis going on. More reliable but bland and under powered.

11's and up were a complete revamp. Better EVERYTHING... And ofcourse the 16'-17's are just monsters..

The best "bang for the buck" bike you can buy right now is a 16-17' ZX10R.... Bad looking, great suspension/brakes, ABS/TC....and BMW power once its flashed.

As for the older R1s, I prefer the 04-07's, I think they are one of the best looking motorcycles ever made, very reliable, good power (for their time) and dirt cheap these days. If you like undertail exhaust, they have it. As for the 08' and later R1s with the cross plane doo doo engine, I'm sure they are reliable and sound good, but the engines are under powered, pretty much a flop of a design and the front ends are hideous.

Now the 15' and later R1s, you're on to something. But they are a rack for sure. If you're short, you may not be real comfy on it. But they are a killer design.

Ofcourse this is just my opinion, take it with a grain of salt....or a little less.

A nit.... the R1 crossplane started in '09. Big Joe's bike is an '08 and has the non cross plane motor.

The cross plane didn't perform, but I liked the way it sounded!

No doubt! Tiatool has an '08. I'll sit on his next time we ride and see how it feels.

Aw thanks, Big Joe. That's awfully nice of you. I can't today, but will take a raincheck. I appreciate the offer and am looking forward to it. Very interested to see how it compares. (The R1, not the cruiser. Lol)
