DPS Licenses Question?

My wife needs to change her name and renew her license, as well as change her address. She attempted twice to go to the hole on Grant Road, and with lines 20 poeple out the door both times she decided not to wait. We heard about the one in Hempstead and think that would be a better bet, 35 min drive and no line versus 3-4 hours at grant. Anyone know about this location, and if this can be done there, since I believe thats not Harris County, or does anyone have a better suggestion? Thanks again for you awesome wisdom MH'ers!

Oh yeah i forgot to add " You Government run entities, you are a model on inefficiency!"

Yep sure can be done there, I have been out to that one each time. About to have to go out there and renew my lic as it expires on my Bday this year.

You could if she didnt let it expire! It has been almost 2 years so if she doesnt get it done by next week she will have to retake driving and written test. Procrastination is an awesome thing.

Hey incognito how was the line?

I use the one in Cleveland. Little further drive for you but there is no line at all. You just walk in.

There was no line, even my roommate which is a board member came down from Maine and had to get a texas lic, so I sent him there. He had no issues and was in and out of that location. If I am not mistaken you can also renew as long as it hasnt been 2 years expired. I just renewed mine online as my bday is comming up and it expires. The new one is only good for 2 years, that sucks and it cost me 33 bucks, grr and I just did a change of address for 10 a few months back. O well

No problem, just reminded me that mine was about to expire

I would assume she would have to go to the office anyways to do the name change, I dont think you can do that online. Which would require a marriage lic and proof that she all all yours now

Privatized "tag agencies" are the one thing I miss about Oklahoma. Need a driver's license or new plates? There are privately owned agencies that handle this for the state EVERYWHERE. There's never a line....

My mother inlaw is the Director of DL Services for like 5 different locations...Pierce, Bay City, Brenham, Columbus, and Hempstead....take your pick. lol

Pierce office is about 45 minutes down 59 from the Beltway....kind of a drive, but beats fighting lines and breathing in peoples special scents from not showering for a week.
Columbus out I-10
Brenham and Hempstead out 290

Our government run entities are much better than in other countries I have lived in!! Trust me... Until you have lived outside of the USA please don't bash ours. Just my 2cents.
