Honda Shadow for $500

Someone in my neighborhood has a basket case shadow. No battery but he agreed to let me try and turn the engine by hand. If itís not locked up you think I should go for it? Itís gonna need a battery as I said, carb and gas tank cleaning, and some new tires. Frame, swingarm and forks are good. All the body work and lights are there. Brakes are good. I was thinking bobber/cafe racer build.

Input?

Do it!!! If it's an 1100 that thing sounds like a beast with straight pipes. My wife's 600 sound pretty good and all that's done is the baffles delete... I love how easy the shadows are to rip on! Surprisingly nimble and hauls

Definitely go for it. I bought a 95 Vulcan 800 and re-built it. So much freaking fun!

cant go wrong with a shadow for 500. if it's more than you want to mess with, sell it with the battery for 8 or 900

Even if it's a 600, it's still a fun little cruiser. Very light, easy controls, and endless possibilities for chopper/bobber modifying. You could also keep it around as a bar hopper bike, or even as spare bike to lend to your friends if you want to go riding around town together.

I was thinking a simple chop and bob, nothing too crazy. Bar hopper/beat around/ spare bike is what I had in mind too. I ran the VIN and itís clear

I may go all the way with this bike

If itís locked up Iíll probably make a frankenbike or some wacky machine from the parts. If the engine is good then it will get bobbed

That's sweet! Our 94' Shadow is pretty fun and the wife loves riding it. I take into town all the time when I'm going to meet ups at bars and such. The helmet lock is really cool too... Not sure why that's not standard across the board on all bikes.
