Unhappy Help me out MH peeps :)

In reference to this thread:

Thanks for all of the interesting responses. My dilemma is that I'm looking to transfer schools. Austin would be great because of the people but the traffic is absolutely horrid and the living conditions, at least in the area where I plan on living are highly questionable. I grew up in Houston, so I'm familiar with whats great and whats not, but the idea of living with my parents again after having been out for two years is slowly driving me insane. I would save a ton of money by going to the University of Houston, and at the same time it would allow me to easily go to Optometry school there since UH has the best one in the state. My other option is to stay here and finish school at UTSA. San Antonio is a great school and place, but I feel that it would look a lot better whenever I apply to Optometry school if I was the graduate from UT or from UH ( since the Optometry school that I'm applying for is associated with the UH franchise). Anyone care to chime in their opinion on what I should do? I have a 3.8 accumulative GPA and a load of extracurriculars so I doubt I will have any issue getting into either of the schools. Staying here is what I'm somewhat leaning towards, since I've already completed so much here and will be able to graduate with honors but at the same time I'm searching for a change of pace. Also, another positive about leaving is that I'll have people to ride with... people in SA don't seem to be as friendly as the riders in austin/houston. I wave at people as they pass by and get the finger ( at least the chicks wave and smile back) lol.

ps. If anyone resides in SA and wants to go riding, shoot a pm. Tired of riding by myself.

I'm currently in Austin for my 2nd year of school and finally brought my bike up here. It's such a great place to ride, but traffic is horrible for most of the day. Plus there are a ton of awesome rock-climbing areas within an hour of the city!

As far as schools go, it might look slightly better to go to UT Austin as opposed to UTSA for your application, but with a 3.8 and a ton of extracurriculars--it shouldn't make much of a difference as far as an acceptance goes (as long as you ace your interview). I'm not up to date with optometry schools, but I plan on applying to medschool and everyone says your GPA/MCATs get you the interview; everything else is a small factor.

How many years have you been at UTSA?
