Anyone track an R3 before?
Little backstory: I bought a used 2021 MT03 (same engine and trans as the r3) with 800 miles that was crashed, mostly cosmetic issues. The only functioning part that I replaced was the radiator. I installed new cheap aftermarket rear sets from amazon, ebay shorty levers, and other track bike goodies. I'm using this as a dedicated track bike.
My issue is that sometimes the bike doesn't want to downshift from 4th to 3rd and even more uncommonly 5th to 4th. Seems to happen when it's revved all the way out in that gear, and no I'm not trying to downshift to 3rd while I'm at 12k RPMs in 4th lol. So what usually happens when it won't downshift is I have to wait until I'm way lower in the RPM range, probably around 4k, give it a little throttle, and then it'll go into 3rd. Same scenario but not as often going from 5th to 4th. Again, it happens pretty randomly and for some reason I notice this problem more often at the same part of the track than others... My clutch and chain is adjusted correctly, I changed the oil when I serviced everything in March 2022. Any ideas would be appreciated. |

Check the clutch lever that it is adjusted properly. Then make sure the foot selector is at a good angle and not loose. Might have sloppy shifting. And everyone tracks the r3.

I really want to go on the 26th but I'm on call that weekend.
![]() There's a little side to side play on the shaft, and I wondered if that could be it but I have about the same amount of play on my GSXR and I haven't had any issues on that bike. Should the arm be clamped on the shift shaft with no play? I don't have the bolt super torqued down because my quickshifter sensor is between the head of the bolt and shift arm and if it's too tight it affects the sensitivity of the sensor. I could move it to the shift rod, but again, I have the same setup on my GSXR with no issues. Guess it wouldn't hurt to try it. |

It should be clamped down on the shaft. You can pull the quick shifter and then tighten it down and check if it gets tight. Another issue might be in your quick shifter.
