It's not hostility. Although it may be a little cold and factual.

When I raced, I lost my insurance coverage briefly due to a job change. I stopped racing for that period of time and even cut down street riding because I was worried about insurance coverage if I crashed due to my fault or someone else's fault. I have crashed a lot. It is never cheap, but I have always been covered.

It is a cold hard fact, but if you don't have the funds to buy appropriate coverage, then you are responsible for the consequences. That goes for racing or acting a fool on the street. That said, I have given to many GoFundMe drives for people that needed help, because I've made mistakes too.

I haven't given to this one (yet?). I know it blames another rider in the pits, but I didn't see anything on the CMRA board. I am surprised by that because under those circumstances, it would usually be addressed quickly and publicly with a warning to all from Walter. This would be to keep it from happening again.

I hope the he fully recovers and wish him well.

yeh, interesting. Pretty complex area. Universal healthcare where I'm from. So we don't normally put much thought towards these things when riding. Hence the questions.

Be patient, we'll have single payer here eventually. Mathematically it's the only way it's going to work. Whether it's 5 years or 10 years though I'm not sure.

Agreed. When I switched jobs, I purchased insurance until the new employers kicked in. Racing a motorcycle without the proper insurance is just bad and will eventually lead to what this gentleman is going through.

Having watched the video, both were at fault. To put blame on one isn't right.

I did want to add 1 thing. I heard that Brian stated he did not want the gofundme and he would take care of this himself. However, I did hear a rumor this weekend that he is going to sue the cmra for the accident. I hope this isn't true, but time will tell.

Hate to hear about another lawsuit possibility for the club, hopefully it's just rumors.

After an accident, it's somewhat normal to work through the what ifs on how to deal with it. As time goes on, hopefully a lawsuit won't be in the picture.

Link to video? But yeah I figured theres always more to these stories. Him suing is probably what his lawyer addressed. Most likely the lawyer is doing it on the free, but im sure CMRA has themselves covered legally.

I seen a screenshot where Brian stated he didn’t need the gofund me and would be refunding everyone the money they donated. Spoke to several people who donated who said they never received their refund.

Insurance is Rule#1 to me and it must be a really good one!!!
As many of you know, back in 2018 at the start of the season, I low sided coming out of the keyhole on MSRH and Manny run me over :(
2 weeks in the hospital, 4 surgeries, 8 months on leave from work, 3 years recovering and no fun raise or monetary help from anyone.
From the very first time I decided to race I understood the risks...
I do help with fun raises here and there but not for injured racers... it's just my personal opinion...
I don't understand people who wants to play big but won't deal with the consequences?
I wish Brian a fully recovery and I hope he'll get to ride soon again, like me
