1 Killed After Alleged Drunk Driver Plows Into Bike Race

Alvarez, 37, of Monterrey.
Campos told police he was an American citizen from Brownsville, Texas. The U.S. consulate could not immediately confirm that.
"We are looking into the incident in terms of whether American citizens were involved,'' consulate spokesman Todd Huizinga told the Associated Press.
The crash happened 15 minutes into the race along a highway between Playa Bagdad and Matamoros, authorities said.

I remember when I vacationed in Cancun in 98, I rented a car and drove around Cancun and then to Tulum. After reaching Tulum via the narrow one lane dirt roads they call a highway, semi's passing you on the right with inches to spare, the idiots weaving their little cars in and out of people, sidewalks, other cars, etc.. I literally kissed the ground when I made it to Tulum. I have never seen a population that possessed ZERO driving skills whatsoever!

ya, mexico drivers suck. had a teacher who told us about her father going there and stopping at a stop sign, the guy behind him slammed into the back of his car and injured him.
