Thanks for this. I sort of agree on the hyperfocus on body position being unnecesarry.

good stuff tony...i totally agree. i was personally plagued with being obsessed with body position (check screen name).
now i find what youve posted to be more of the key to going fast. i see that the "goon in leathers" technique is where its at lol. |

When I am trying to go faster I try different lines. I do understand your point in trying too hard on BP. When I go out in novice I use it as a time to work on lines and BP. I think I go faster when I get my head down and try to move.
I dont run lap timers. I dont like being crossed up because in races I can feel that I am way more uncomfortable and I feel that it takes more effort to move around. Makes more of a difference when I ride in an endurance race. |

I've try to work on my BP.. but found my self running wide or going slower then what I was going before when I was just riding and letting my body do its thing.
Now.. here and there I do work on getting my head down and making sure my upper body is not stiff and all the way in the air... Good stuff as always tony! |

I'm glad that someone way faster than me agrees with me. I felt like my first trackday was all about body position. I'm like it's too hot and we're going too slow for all that .

Great write up. I've been focusing so much on bp lately. The next time I hit the track (hopefully 10/16) I'll try this and not focus on so much bp and focus more on my comfort level instead.
will report back after. |

I've only done one track day, but by lunch time at GSS I had found a comfortable riding position and started working on things like my line and braking. This is great information. Usually the first thing is for new riders is "gotta work on bp" but people need to learn when to transition their focus when they find what is comfortable to them.

I wonder also if you ride with someone faster/advance level, would it make your learn faster? ...instead of riding with people at the same level of group..
I'm assuming that by riding with someone with better skill than you, you'll learn their line and the speed instead of figuring that on your own? |
