Sena 10C Pro (SD Card not included)

Hi All,

I just bought my Sena 10C Pro device today. The guys at CycleGear installed it for me (used the clip). I brought my earplugs in as well, placed those in and wore the helmet w/it installed.

A few things everyone should be aware of:

- This device does NOT have a SD card included. You must purchase one separately. There are a lot of reviews and complaints about not having enough information about which SD card to use. The manual indicates the following: "You cannot record videos without a microSD card. Your microSD card needs to be formatted before using the camera. MicroSD cards up to 64GB and Class 10 or higher cards are compatible." I purchased the SanDisk Ultra Plus MicroSDXC UHS-I Card Class 10 (this is indicated by logo w/a "10" inside of a "C" on the packaging.)

- How do you format your microSD card? The "quick start guide" manual (included w/the device) does not give instructions. Instead I found out the steps on a community forum for Sena. Here are the steps (check to see if the card is ready, by pressing the Camera button w/the card installed. If Sena says, "card not recognized" then you will need to do the steps below):

(put your helmet on)
1.) Press and hold the Camera Button for ~8 seconds until you hear the voice prompt, “Camera setup”.

2.) Rotate the Jog Dial clockwise or counter-clockwise (each click) to cycle through the options until you reach the voice prompt "Format SD Card"

3. Click the "Phone button" to Format the SD Card. This action will remove all photos (if any exist) on the device and will format it (wipe it clean). I didn't have any photos on mine as I just bought it new and plopped it in. However, this format process made the micro SD card compatible "software-wise" with the device.

4. Press the Jog Dial button once to exit the Camera Configuration menu.

After this, you should be able to press the Camera Button and the device will say "Start Recording". This is when you know that you've formatted the micro sd card properly.

- The kit has a lot of lil gadgets to custom-fit the camera to your helmet. There is a clip and also some adhesive. The CG Guys installed the clip on mine but it was loose at first. They had to use other items to make the fit tighter. There is also a tool that comes with the kit that allows for the installation for the clip on the helmet. The fit will vary per helmet.. It is not a one size-fits all.

- The kit comes with a usb connection (for charging or to your computer for updating firmware) and a 12v charger.

- Please be sure to visit Sena.com to view the documents and the download site. It is recommended to download the "device manager" so that you can update your Sena with the latest firmware. I highly recommend it because there are other options available on the Sena, like voice commands that you will need to enable via the "settings" in device manager as they are disabled upon purchase.

I have yet to ride with this installed, but I will try to update everyone with my findings. The device is not heavy but you will feel the difference once you have your helmet on. You'll remember which side it has been installed on lol.

Thanks for the write up!

I LOVED my Sena SMH-10 that I have had since 2011 without any issues. However, I'm now on my 3rd Sena 30k. I hope Sena's next incarnation of devices don't have the problems the 30k does.

Show up some footage when you get a chance.

Will do! And no problem for the write-up. I thought this suckah was plug-n-play...boy was I wrong! I'm still gonna try to read the full manual to see what all it can do. That quick guide isn't very thorough lol.

Aite Chris...here's my test-footage! You gonna have to tilt your head to the right...ROFL! I gotta adjust my camera for my next commute/ride.

I'm very pleased with the quality. Enjoy my mini-rages and wind-related complaints, but most importantly the view
