Process for a 15yr old to obtain a motorcycle license?

Has anyone had their 15yr old obtain a license?

My daughter and I would like for her to get her license.

The states website seems confusing.

Anyone?

Minors age 15-17 are still eligible to earn their Texas Class M license.

To do so, they must have taken and completed the 32-hour classroom phase of a Driver Education course. They must then obtain a Class C learnerís permit. At this point, they can take the required basic motorcycle safety course.

All minors must complete and pass the road test and written test to earn their motorcycle license.

Looks like you are limited to 250cc until you are 16. As long as you have a learner's permit for cars you can take the motorcycle class and get your m endorsement. That would be cool to have a motorcycle license before an automobile license.

Slap a 250cc sticker on the R1 and she should be good to go

I couldnt imagine a cop pulling over a 15y/o and inspecting the engine to see if its uder 250cc. Now, I wouldn't reccomend putting a 15yo/new rider on a liter bike to begin with. I'm just saying if she's riding with Dad (which would be my guess 99% of the time) then the cop wouldn't split hairs on the cc's.

Just my guess though. what the do I know! lol...

Find the right trooper and they might. I could almost guarantee you 95% of other officers won't even remember the statute. And 60% of them wouldn't even be able to tell you the difference between a 250 and a 600.

Yep, I wouldn't be stuck on the CC's either. One year is going to fly by and the two of you will probably be riding together for most of that year until she is ready to fly solo. You can even lend her your Grom if she needs a bike to be tested on, so you're good.

Well, thats the thing, she will be riding the Grom to school everyday (thats not bad weather)

When she turns 16, she will drive a car.
