2.5 yrs later...I put up my fence. lol

so, I replaced one of 2 fences after Ike in my backyard....after building a couple thousand feet of fence for others, my wife had enough of looking at our back fence being braced up....so, I finally got around to doing my own. I guess it's like a mechanic always neglecting to work on his own rides.

Thanks to Bean and Miguel!! for the help with the construction and the drinking beer part. I think we knocked out a case in about 8 hours while working. Now to the next honey do list item.

Nicely done.

I've looked at a few houses that are still untouched from Ike. It's quite sad...

Excellent work, I like the toe boards (name?). What are you qouting per lineat foot for something similar to yours, I was thinking about having you do mine if I can get my neighbor to split cost.

Thanks!

toe boards - I refer to them as rot boards as they keep the pickets off the ground, thus keeping moisture off of them and preventing premature "rotting".

Cost for this one was a bit higher than normal b/c the pickets are 8 foot long and $3.50 bucks a piece. I would quote 22.50/ft for this fence. For a 6' cedar fence (normal picket height) with 6" rot board it runs about $18.50/ft.

No more price quoting though, I don't want this thread locked.

Looks very nice.

Get a sprinkler system already. I believe you have an in-house expert that may be able to help you with design.

Dbuck.....we all know the real reason it took you so long to do your own fence. You wanted to use other people as guinea pigs first until you got your technique down pat.

Already got the drip irrigation installed into all the flower beds. Ran a couple extra PVC sleeves under the walkway for future electrical lighting and irrigation. Now it's all about finding time to get it done. My weekends are full of fence builds through the end of this month. I am aiming to have it completed by year end.

I will say that the build process has gotten a bit quicker with the right tools. (i.e. augers, compressors, palm nailers, nail guns, etc.)

Too funny....I'm actually considering shirts here in the near future. I'll make sure to get a XXL for my number one customer!

I'd wear that everywhere. Just..make sure you put a "Steve-O" like picture of your self on the back. That would really sell it.
