Dane Westby died

my long time friend and moto advice giver Dane Westby died yesterday. Single bike accident. I've known this kid forever, he was just gaining a head of steam too. Awesome family, awesome friend. Got me into moto.

Will always miss you. American moto racing lost its greatest character.

It's terrible. He was killed near downtown on very straight and low speed streets. Hit a pole off the side of the road. There is no way this wasn't caused by a car or something else.

A racer wouldn't lose his in a 30mph zone. No curves, no fun riding there. Short stoplight to stoplight roads in that area, I know it well. No room to speed.

This Just In: Dane Westby's long-time friend and former mechanic Dustin Meador visited the crash site and reported that skid marks at the scene indicate that Westby was trying to avoid something in his path. "There's a burger joint across the street there and I think someone was rolling out of there and he was trying to avoid getting hit," said Meador. "He was in the left-hand tire track of the right lane. The skid marks start out going straight and then veer off toward the curb. He was on the brakes. To me it was pretty obvious that he was trying to avoid something."

well, when accidents are a result of someone's negligence....they should be held accountable. Hopefully there are nearby cameras or something that caught "what" contributed to this accident whether it be another vehicle, a raccoon or pet.

Yeah and he was on a pleasure bike. He did not ride high powered super sports on the street. He was more of a CB250, Norton, etc kind of guy. two cylinders max. Dude likes his brawp bikes.
