Great info. Awesome rules to ride by. This stuff was the first stuff to learn, when learning how to ride and has helped keep me out of trouble, if not save my life. Ride safe, and comfortable.

One thing I would like to point out so far as group rides. If you are going on the twisty roads, don't try and keep the staggered formation thru the turns. The leaders shouldn't have to signal, and it might be unsafe to take your hand off the bars.
Just go single file and open the gaps up some. Also will alleviate fixating on the rider in front of you and following their bad lines. Too many times people try and keep on one side or the other of the lane, and run wide when they had plenty of room. |

I also tell people I ride with absolutely no passing on curves. Street is not a race track and stuffing it in to pass is a recipe for an ambulance ride. |

Speaking of group rides.. how about some general terms for Pace?
Something like.. Beginner - for the first time rider on the curvy roads, at or below the posted speed limits, extremely careful entering the curves Mild = posted speed limits in the straights AND curve warning speeds Moderate = slightly above mild, with the corners at or slightly above the posted road speeds Brisk = below 1XX top speed limit, corner entries up to double the yellow warning speed (depending on roads speed limit can be slightly higher, as determined and agreed upon by the group) Spirited = pretty much anything goes, to be determined by the group. Expect sustained elevated triple digits. Please speak up so we can get a good rule of thumb, plus you'll know what to expect when someone posts a brisk, spirited ride. ![]() |

I like the list. IMO brisk and spirited rides should not be publically posted. If you want to go that fast, it should be PM only or face to face like today when you have such an obvious seperation between rider abilities.

Plus Brisk is pretty much where I live... set the cruise on 80-90 and forget about it and the brakes... ![]() ![]() |
