Sport bike posture
Howdy,
Been riding since January and recently my back starts to hurt after about an hour on my R6. It doesn't matter if I'm on the highway or going slow through neighborhoods. (21 years old with no previous injuries) I currently grip tank with my knee's and of feet on the pegs. My wrists/hands have never hurt because I don't put weight on them. Trying to figure out why my back is just now starting to hurt a little bit. My jacket (teknic lightning leather jacket) is a tad small wonder if that is it. Any tips or good videos to check out on this topic? Thanks! |

Probably not the jacket but the fact that your crammed onto a SS bike and trying not to put wieght on your wrists/arms while keeping your legs jacked up on the rear sets. Try to find a more body comfortable riding position and see if that helps. They will never be "comfortable".

why are you gripping your tank with your legs? Just relax, and dont over think it. some different after market clip on's could help. but the r6 is a aggressive, more towards on top of the tank seating position type of bike.
the 2004 isnt as bad but its still fairly aggressive. anyhow my street 2008 r6, i rode oni the backroads and longer rides, never had a issue (including 2up) with my 05 r6 track bike i went on the street once, and i never had any issues. ive never taken my 08 r6 track bike on the street but i'll ride it for a couple hours to a few hours at the track a day, no issues there either. |

Lol. You're right. Too much input. Lol. I always supported myself with my arms on the street and I don't think I've ever had too much input. You know you can control input while still supporting yourself right?

haha if you are trying to hard to keep the wait off of your arms, its possible you are putting a lot of strain on your lower back. A little weight on the bars is not going to cause the bike to go flying off the road. Of course you don't want to have much weight on the bars during braking and turning, but I would try putting a little more weight on your arms.

Dude, it just comes from your back taking that weight. its ok to put some weight on the arms, you're not gunning around the track. be conscious of body position, more importantly weight distribution when tipping and tipped in but relax on the straights. I move around a lot just to keep myself fresh. Stretch, twist your back, stand on the pegs. |

You buy a bike that hunches you all up and over and keeps your legs crammed up into your body and behind you, and then wonder why you're uncomfortable on longer rides? My story - I'm 51 years old, have had occasional back problems, but I have no issues on my bike. I can iron- a 12 hour day and still have the jets to take in the local town that evening. |

Trying to evenly distribute your weight between your hands, feet, and back. I've taken rides to San Antonio, Austin and back in a day and have never had any issues. My wrist used to get tired after long rides about the first six months that I had started riding. But the more you ride the more you get used to it.
