Is too big of a helmet as bad as not having one

Lets say I want to give someone a ride, and I don't have my spare with me. Normally I give them my helmet and I put on sunglasses or something. so I don't have a helmet and the chic has a helmet probably to big for her. Is the situation better off if I just keeping my helmet? random thought

You keep it. If its too big she cant see and a good jerk could take her off the back due to lack of control of the weight. You need to make sure you can see properly since you are in control. Pony up for a cheap lid for girls if you are gonna pick em up. I wear an XL. If the girl can even keep my lid on her head, I dont want her big on my bike.

I have a helmet, jacket, and gloves for my wife, but there are times I ride to work or meet her somewhere, and she or a friend want to go for a ride. i'm a size large she is a small.

topic got me thinking after hearing Patrick talk about used helmets, and why not to get them.

Personally... I have the no helmet no ride mentality... for both me and passenger.
Once you break that hard rule, you'll stretch it farther and farther. parking lot? Ok, just around the block? Ok, just to the corner store? Ok... we aren't getting on freeway. etc etc.

Luckily, I've had helmets that fit passengers (mine or friends... we have spares in s,m,l) And we generally plan ahead... or it wasn't important enough to ride.

I'd rather my girl wear the helmet than me. We are only one size different though, as she has a big ol' nugget. Ok I have a small one, but still... Usually, when she doesn't have her brain pan, we don't ride.

Yes. The head bouncing around in the lid does not allow for the absorption of shock as the design intended. The foam cant do its job of the lid doesnt fit right

I believe Sic was wearing a helmet that was too large due to his afro...he died on the track...

I had 70K of medical bills that can attest to that. I thought I was a M in my cheap Scorpion, but really I didn't find the right S to fit my long oval head shape. After my recovery I bought a M Shoei. It was at Road Atlanta that I noticed it was too big. It tried to rip itself off my head at 175mph on the back straight. I switched to a S X-12. Much better!
