KTM offers new stability system for 2014
KTM will offer a system that combines anti-lock braking and traction control to reduce falls while taking curves. It is supposed to prevent the dreaded braking high side too. The article does not say if the rider can disable it for off road riding.

Perfect bike for rich noobs. Computer to correct most braking and throttle mistakes, and enough ground clearance to hop curbs and go through ditches.

Nah. Take away the fancy gyroscope, throttle and braking gizmos and it MIGHT keep up with the Tiger and BMW from '08, even with the bigger power plant...and the only reason I see that as a possibility is that KTM finally ditched the 21" front tire for a 19". The year I bought my bike, the KTM was the worst-rated adventure bike in a 4 or 5-day adventure shootout. Even the Tenere kicked its , and that thing is a fuggin' pig. If the new one was shaft drive it might be worth considering.

The ktm 950/990 adventure is in a class of its own offroad. Up to when the new multistrada came out, it would spank any adventure bike in the twisties even with a 21 inch front tire. The 1290 should be comparable or superior to the multistrada and is still miles ahead of any of them offroad. Ive had 3 lc8 - 950 adv, 950 SM and 990 Super Duke - all awesome but the adventure is the jack of all trades - the leatherman/swiss army knife of motorcycles. Ive got a 1190 reserved

Upon further review, it appears the VStrom's second lap is around 10 seconds faster than the KTM's. That's a heavier bike with less horsepower turning faster times on the same track...in case anyone missed it.
