Ugh, that is gross, but that's exactly how my knee looked after my wreck. I apparently took just enough skin off that it never really bled. Wasn't ever infected, but instead of a normal scab it was just that yellow/white film that forms from the clear fluid weeping. Ugh. Gross to even think about.

You have to use large non stick pads that don't hurt when you pull them off because you need to change them all the time. That pink made it look infected, glad to hear it all went well.

I wear a two-piece leather suit with knee pucks, full face helmet, gauntlet gloves, track boots, and armor for spine/chest/etc every time I ride. This is for leisure only so I don't mind the extra time it takes to wear so much gear.

Once, a man at a traffic light rolled down his window, and shouted I looked like a derogatory word for homosexuals, and why I wasn't riding a Harley. Yes, I look way overdressed for the street vs 95% of sportbike riders. Yes, my knee sliders/pucks look brand new, and I intend to keep them that way for now. My family and friends are mostly doctors, and I used to work in the ER/ICU. I strongly believe you can never have too much safety gear on, and that the best gear for the track affords you the most protection on the street. I say everyone should embrace the Power Ranger look because it's the safest, however if you disagree no need to disparage those who do.

Knee guards imo.
They'll help cushion the impact and the plastic has good abrasion resistance.
I wear mine under my jeans.
Inexpensive protection.
