Hwy 99, near Sugar Land-- asphalt seams
All,
So here is a hazard to watch for: asphalt paving seams-gaps on freeways. Highway 99 near Sugar Land, particularly the south bound lanes south of Airport blvd --have some nasty seams. Paving left a long gap in the surface, and the gap varies in height, and width. At a few places the gap is wide enough to really trap a motorcycle tire, and the trend of the seam varies in the lane. It is an ugly hazard particularly at high speed, and congested traffic and can surprise. Current construction on the 69 freeway between Sugar Land and Richmond has similar issues. Be aware. Stay focused and relaxed. |

I will also add that Hwy 99 thru Katy can be an absolute traffic nightmare! Rode to meet buddy for lunch in old Katy from Sugar Land: 45 minutes of stop and go . Cagers were just nasty also. Next time I will check traffic maps, and or ride thru Brookshire. Ugh.
