Places to ride traffic free

I'm newbie reading the posts absorbing all the information I can before I take a rider course. I know after the course I will not have the skills to feel comfortable on the city streets

where are some places to practice riding on the weekends in a controlled environment until I get my confidence level up?

Get a small bike...ninja 250 is plenty of bike to start off on... There are a lot of good roads to get seat time,,,, PM me when you get your bike.

you might start by telling us what part of town you live in. Then maybe we can come up with some suggestions close to you.

wait until youre finished taking the course...

it's not worth the hospital bills if you don't feel comfortable yet.

Towards the west, or towards the east. North and south are intense riding until you get waaaay out of town... Or, a local parking lot.

MSF course doesnt teach you too much, dont get me wrong it does teach you stuff but you need to practice it like crazy and seat time will really teach you. you can also look up the drills or whatever they teach you in the msf course and practice those... that way you can be a show off when you go take the course

Thanks guys for the suggestions. I am really just soaking it in trying to get a feel for what I need to do. I don't have any experience on a bike. I am southwest guy @obed.

In my experience with riding, all the info you read does not matter until you actually do it. That being said do msf first then ride around your neighborhood. Kinda like learning to drive.
