Bald Eagles in Houston!

Was out on our Airfield today with the City of Houston workers to shoot some birds. We came up to this huge freakin bird on the start of the runway. It was on top of another bird ripping it to shreds. Looked in the binoculars and ling behold it was a freakin BALD EAGLE!

This is what he was munching on!! A huge Owl!

Ive never seen one before and definitely never thought Id see one in Houston on our Airfield!

Sorry for the iphone pics......:/
For perspective that owl's foot was as big as my hand.
And the bald eagle was at least 2 1/2ft tall while he was munching on that owl.

Pretty cool. There are at least two nests on the redwood golf course in humble. They are very active and you can see them hunting for fish in the lake out front daily.

I also see them out on the trinity river on my canoe trips.

Apparently they have been making a comeback.

I was riding along a lakeshore back in Minnesota once and watched a bald eagle swoop down into the lake to grab a fish. It was pretty awesome.
