Barber track days.

Hey all , I'm meeting my son at Barber for a track day weekend, I have not been there before. Any advice would be welcome, I will arrive Friday around noon and hit-up the museum. I think the gates open around 1500.

Where is the best pit area with power ?
Any tips about the track ?

Thanks,
Old guy riding a track ready SV650.

Several of us went for 2 days several years ago.
As I recall, at that time power was pretty far from the pit so we had to use long extension cords. Try to get as heavy gauge wire as you can so it can carry the current for tire warmers, etc.
Other amenities were kinda scarce as is usual. Bring your own food and drink etc. No real surprises.

The track is amazing! Waay more challenging to me than any of the tracks around here, that I've ridden. Blind uphill turn, one turn was really difficult to judge the line for me. Never did really get it right.
Plus it's just beautiful. We all agreed it was like a nice golf course with a racetrack running thru it. Landscaping, flowers, custom made statues at each turn, illustrating the name of the turn. You'll have a blast!

Exactly. Barber is absolutely beautiful and the track is awesome. I raced the Barber Festival of Speed with CCS years ago. The fast uphill blind corner on a ZX-10R was a blast to ride. Jumping the curbs downhill on the Alabama Rollercoaster is pretty cool too. Definitely one of the best tracks out there. Have fun!!

Take one FULL day for the museum.

The track itself is amazing, but the museum will blow your mind

You can get through the museum in an afternoon if you aren't stopping to read and take pictures of everything. (I did it after lunch when the sprinkles started to fall.) Power is available on tiers 2 and 3 of the pits for something like $80. Camping is available for the same rate.

Follow up post , you guys where right on all points . The track was amazing , easy to figure out the line and easy to go fast . Turns 3 through 6 , the wide open uphill right hander into the hair pin is the . Best complex of turns I have ever ridden . The facilities and ground where top rate and the museum was very interesting I just wish I had more time there . If you do a track day there just make sure to sign up for both days , day two was as good as it gets .

N2 track days is the organizer , my son rides with them up east . $245..00 a day . he came down from D.C. it was great . They run about the same size groups , novice, inter and advanced . The track rules are different and more control riders per session . Barber attracts a lot of faster guys from allover the U.S. I ride mid to front L2 group and these cats where flying .

Yeah , Barber was sure a hi-light of my track days but riding with my son is the best . The only problem is I can't hang with him , I know he's waiting for me at times. He's young and fast , I'm old and well you know .

I did Barber this year with California Superbike School. Great track and great coaching. If you haven't done either, I highly recommend (next one is May 2018).

When you first drive up to Barber you will feel like you're entering a golf course, the landscaping is on par with Augusta National.
