Does anyone know if the forest received a lot of rain this week? We'd like to go out there before the rest of the rain hits, but don't want to have a mudfest.

We rode Stubblefield this morning, it was real dry and dusty, no sign of water at all.

For updated MUT trails closures go back to 1-888-361-6908 ext 2, seems SHTC site doesn't have anyone to man the changes in a timely manner at present.

With this rain, they will be closed awhile. Probably going to be way too many trees down also. Might have to have a hugh work day just to cut out all the fallen trees before it reopens. Just a guess, but after riding out there over 40 years, pretty good estimate I'm betting. Worst case is the flooding out there might wash out trails again like two years ago, forest trails were closed for almost a year while that got fixed, I'm hoping all the work that was put in doing all the water sheds is working, will find out when the sun finally comes out and we can survey all the trails. Keep your fingers crossed, and if not join in on the recovery efforts when they get posted.

Have you had a chance to get out and look at the trails? I saw they were going to have some sort of "by foot survey" to assess the damage. Also, how are you doing? Hopefully all is well!

Hey everyone... we are needing volunteers tomorrow in the Forest if you can attend:

What: Survey Storm Damage - West Side Multi-Use Trails
When: Sat 09/09 9am-3pm
Where: Meeting at 208 NW Trailhead just north of Kelly's Pond

This is NOT a physical workday. We will only be walking the trails. Just need a Ramblir App to mark out the problem areas so we know where we need to go and fix.
Thank you for volunteering. This is the first step to getting the SHNF trails safe for riding again.

Thank you in advance!

Thanks Lisa, think the surveys on the west side are done. Sunday this week, Kit and a couple of helpers are going out to cut trees off the trails, there are many so anyone with a sawyers certificate that can help cut trees this weekend would be a great help. There was some rutting but not real bad like last time, it will take some attention to fix but shouldn't be overwhelming like last time. Also need some help mending bridges, a must for the trails to reopen. If you can help, go to either the Sam Houston Trails Coalition site and sign up or Babes on Dirt Bikes site and get with Crossfits (Lisa) or join ODODB and sign up for the workday. More help = Faster open trails again, bottom line.

Well that was weird ^^

Alright, we need some volunteers this weekend if at all possible. There is a workday scheduled for Sunday to work dirt near Kelly's pond. Two ODODB's will be there at 7am and we need volunteer(s) to relieve them around noon if possible. We are looking to fill 4 or 2 hour shifts.

If you cannot work the afternoon, they will be out there from 8-4 if the morning works better for your schedule.

You can sign up on the ODODB or BODB meetup calendar, or just let me know and I'll direct you to the appropriate person(s).

What you will need (PFE):
Long Pants
Long Sleeve Shirt (highly recommended)
Boots
Hard Hat
Safety Glasses
Gloves
Insect Repellent (recommended)
Water
Food
Bike or ATV

Thank you for all of your help in getting these trails back up.

No. Note it is a: Termination of CLOSURE order.
All trails were closed, now a select few are opened by way of termination of closure for them only. East Side and remaining West Side trails are still temporarily closed.

Going to try to make it out in the next couple weeks. I don't even know if I remember how to ride. Haven't ridden in 10 months. No time. This new baby girl has been wearing my out. If I would have had her first she would be an only child.
