Where to camp south of Galveston

In a 5th wheel camper on the beach ? Is it legal and accessible ?
Wild hair to hook up today drive down find a place to access the beach and set up shop, probably take 1 4-wheeler and 1 dirt bike. I know I may need a off road vehicle permit ( 4-wheeler & dirt bike ) but Ill take my chances for 1 day.

Map or location would be awesome.

You can camp and ride dirt bikes anywhere on the Bolivar peninsula. You don't need an offroad permit. You will need a beach parking permit. They sell them at all the convenience stores on the peninsula. There are some fun little trails on the other side of the sand dunes. Keep your eye out for tire tracks heading through the dunes and you will find some trails. You can also ride down the beach towards Port Arthur from the end of the peninsula at High Island.

Just be careful on the trails. There are a lot of deep washouts that come out of nowhere. A few weeks ago I was riding an ATV back there with my wife on the back and came across one in the middle of the night. She wound up laying on her back in the marsh soaking wet when it was 35 degrees. She wasn't happy, but I was laughing my off. Luckily we were just putting around.

I always camp here when I go to the beach. They rent golf carts to ride on the beach as well. On the winter time the cops not mind the dirt bikes either but make sure to pay for the sticker of each vehicle you decide to ride on the beach. the pass is good to the entire year.
Full hookups 30 and 50 amps with water and sewer.
They allow you to make fire on the beach as well.
They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner on the restaurant up on the deck.
They often have live music.

once you get on the bolivar peninsula you should camp east of the curve where 124 used to intersect with SH 87 E ... you can dirt/sand ride what's left of 87 E to sabine pass or SEA RIM park ... pretty isolated but passable at most tides

Was just there last weekend and the water was pushed up all the way to the dunes there was no beach. With that strong north wind last night and today the tides might be pushed out but soon as the wind slacks the tides going to come back pretty high
