If you own a business or work in a business that sells to the public....

Then when a potential client calls with a list of parts AND gives you their name and number to call them back with the options and prices at YOUR CONVENIENCE instead of tying you up on the phone.... CALL THEM TO BACK. Especially when they call you back almost 6 hours later to see if you might have forgot about them....

WOW.

rant over.

(why yes, it was a local bike shop)

If the dealer was south of you and me, I am sure the owner would like to know. If I am right, shoot me a pm and I will take it up.with them.

Actually, that would have been fine.... If he'd have said right up front. I get it. Really. Sometimes we are jacked up busy and I'll answer the phone with someone looking for prices. I'll take their info and tell them how busy we are and
they may not get a call back that day. It happens.....

2nd shop a little further down the way I called after my second call to the first. He said he was busy and would get back to me in a bit. 20 minutes later he did and I ordered $100 in parts, will probably order $200 in tires when I go pick them up this afternoon and if I like my new scoot I'll be dropping off the rear shock to get freshened up. All from a cold call, "new" client. Not alot of money but it's still business.

It may not be alot of money right this minute. When you think long term how much you may/ will spend that's a lot different considering what brought you there was good costumer service. I have worked my fair share of public jobs and I think it takes you getting treated like a POS, at said job before you appreciate ppl like yourself.

I think the more accurate statement is "its amazing how many businesses can't run a business." The effect is that it appears to customers like they don't want your business.

Annoying part is I can SEE there shop from mine.... can probably throw a rock and hit them. Now I have to drive 30 minutes down the road to get my parts....

the big sale might pay for a vacation, but those small day to day sales are what buys the groceries.
