Geezus...politics has turned into a gawd joke these days. Eventually, it's going to be a reality tv show on MTV.

The bad thing is that he makes more sense than the other candidates. Look at Andrew Cuomo. WOW!

Than he does pay rent, he just does it in the form of providing a service vs. actually writing a check.

His services obviously have a "value" attached to them, and he trades these services for his rent, so in effect he does pay rent.

I would be willing to bet that if he no longer provided his services as a maintenance man he would also be required to write a check for his rent or face eviction.

Look past the "spin".

I just checked this thread out but I was going to make this same point.
Although his political standings are a joke (At least to the sensible masses) he appeals to a very large segment. Those disenfranchised individuals who are fighting to make it.

Granted their short comings is vastly their fault you must recognize that they have the capability to vote. Whether they choose to or not isn't my point.

He should be viewed as a worthy opponent.

man's got a point though. 900 a month for a house that's older than me is too much, I'm certainly feeling that pressure.

Yup, rent/mortgage is a fact of life and even after that you still have to pay these awful high property taxes.

I was living in a nice, very nice place were I didn't have to worry about thugs and trash and home invasion, and could walk around outside at night with my daughter but I paid for it at $1200/month.

I was forced to move down in rent significantly, below the $800/range and guess what I have to deal with? The place looked 'decent' during the day but the first night we moved in there's thugs driving their 'boom boom' 'slabs' up and down the street, making obvious drug deals, and some crack head kept hitting us up for money while we're unloading the moving truck.

That $400/month is the difference between the safety of my family and actually having to buy another gun (due to the fact I sold mine feeling it just wasn't worth the risk with my daughter getting old enough to start digging around the house)

It's pretty sad what $800/month gets you these days.

Part of the "rent" he is talking about is the cost of education. People down here dont see this as much of a problem, but in NY, the costs are horrendous. They have a value based school tax that rapes all citizens. I dont remember the exact break down, but my total property taxes up there (village, county, and school) was 13.6%. I believe the school tax alone was 7-8%. This tax is levied upon EVERY property in NY. Not just residential.

Also, the health care system up there is screwed. Every hospital I know of has lost money every year for at least the last 20. Malpractice insurance is so high, that a lot of the good Drs are leaving. The welfare system (which is HUGE) only pays Drs something like 20-25% of their normal cost for procedures.

Sine Pataki has left, things have gone down hill in a hurry! The state is almost as bad off as CA. They need a change, and BADLY!

Actually, there is a HUGE problem up there. 80% of the state holds 40% of the people. What they want doesnt mean .

NYC dictates EVERYTHING that happens for the whole state. That shithole is a money pit that upstaters have to pay to keep afloat.

Most of the state (area wise) has voted AGAINST almost everything that happens there.

We have voted NYC out of the state 6 times. They have to agree to leave. They wont, because we pay their bills.
