I’ll be at the Katy track for a test n tune this Sunday (23 Sept). He can borrow some of gear and throw a leg over our 50’s for a few laps.

He will be fine at the MX track, the kid track is mild and he will love all the elevation and berms. Make sure he is getting that leg out front to lead the bike!

We used the Kenda initially but they were a bit narrow once the kids corner speed came up.

Now we use these:
Front: 10-3.0 Continental
Rear: 90/90-10 MMG

Each will fit on stock rim. As you witnessed kids were not lacking grip.

The extra set of rims would be great to have if you are still wanting to ride dirt. I like the fact that the listing says “Heavy Duty” spokes which is highly important. Parker use to down shift hard before a corner to help slow the bike (much like your son did) and destroyed his spokes.

Your friend contributing his pucker moment on the Blue Tape we put down to help kids with lines? Odd, it’s same method I’ve known being used for over 20 years.

I’d say the pucker factor is due to a damp surface. That track doesn’t heat up to well past lunch. Especially after rains.
