I watched it twice; just so I could listen to him talking again! Hilarious.

They were in the boat, probably, to keep it from floating out to sea! Somebody has to drive it to a dock somewhere- guess that was the easiest way.

they are not suppose to be in the boat....duh!!!!! as far as floating out to sea, that is why you tie a lead rope to it and handle it from dry ground.
