Talking Talking to Telemarketers :keke:

They called today and I answered the phone (this is the house phone, which I never give out and I never answer- it's for the kids). This was our conversation- and the man WAS NOT amused. At all.

Sorry for the long read.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hello, my name is ******, this is a recorded phone call. I'm calling on behalf of the State Troopers. This year we're collecting money for a very special cause; drunk driving. If you make a donation to our cause we will send you a sticker in the mail and a prepaid envelope to mail in your donation. Are you interested in making at donation?

You're a recording?

No, ma'am.

You said this was a recorded call.

I'm not a recording.

Are you recording me?

No ma'am.

Then, what's recorded?

What?

You said the call was recorded. What is the recorded part?

Oh. I don't know that's in the script. Would you like us to send you a bumper sticker and your donation envelope?

So, if I have this sticker on my car, does that mean I can get away with drinking and driving?

What?

If I put the sticker on my car does that mean I can't be arrested for drinking and driving?

NO!

Then what good is the sticker?

What? It's up to you what you do with the sticker. We're asking for donations.

Will it keep me from getting a ticket?

No.

Oh. Well, I'm an unemployed college student. I have no income.

Would you be interested in a smaller donation amount?

Well, since I have no income, I'm gonna say no.

Would you be interested in a one time donation of only $15 or $20?

You want to donate $15 to ME? Yes! I'll take it!

No, ma'am. We're asking you to donate money to our cause.

I have no income. I already said no.

Oh. Okay, thank you.

Yep. I got in trouble at football practice for doing donuts in the parking lots.

Was fun, though.

Is that a real job? Are they very hairy? Do they grow hair on their feet like hobbits? How does it pay? Do you have to shave everything? Do they stink? Do you bathe them beforehand?

I used to have fun with telemarketers when I had a landline. I would let them get into their pitch, and then interupt them with a pitch of my own. Didnt matter what it was, just something I could BS about. They would want to sell me X item and I would counter by extolling the cleaning powers of Oxi-Clean.

Whats funny is that I get telemarketing calls at work all the time. Trouble for them is that I work for the Attorney General and I just let them start talking and transfer their call to our Consumer Protection Division

I have a home phone that I got with comcast's bundle. NO ONE has the number. Therefore, I just turned off the ****ing ringer. Cuz honestly...........if you're calling that number, I don't know who you are and definetly don't want to talk to you.

after the wife left issue thing, i was able to turn on a new land line number from ATT so i could look for work and take calls about employment. (at the time all i had was a cell,..and some issues with it (look for the TMOBILE thread, and youll see what was going on)

I didnt give the number out to anyone, but as soon as the phone line was active, it was nonstop barrage of magazine peddlers, and all sorts for . every day.

the first 20 minutes the phone was ON, and had received two telemarketers. i am sure it was partly att doing/alliances.

The ONLY ppl who call that phone for me are selling me something. Otherwise, it's there for the kids to talk to their friends, and for emergencies when they're home alone or with a sitter. It's only $18 a month, so I don't mind leaving it on.

Typically I don't answer it, but this day I chose to take on the hasslers! I had fun with him.
