Honest Opinions Wanted.....

Ok, so im thinking of adding a power commander to my 2004 gsxr 600 that has a slip on exhaust system. Talked to one shop and they said they will dyno tune it for me for about 250 dollars, I talked with another shop he told me since it was a slip on and I had no other engine mods then there was no need to get it dyno tuned and all I needed was to get it mapped and either way I would just only gain a couple more horsepower and they would only charge 90 bucks installing the pcIII and the map.... Input anybody?? Thanks

do you have smog block off's installed?? if you dont there wont be as much use dyno'ing it due to the missreadings it will get from the ais...and the guy is right about the fact that with only a slip on it isnt worth dyno'ing it right now...i would wait until you do a few more things to it like a performance air filter and maybe a full system

My advice:
Don't waste your money on a PCIII unless you plan on adding a full system or a quick shifter.

Is there something your looking to improve on the bike? Any flat spots in the power band, etc? If your just looking for a bit more pep, consider spending that money on some new gearing. It'll be cheaper and will be a much more noticeable difference.

By changing the chain sprockets you change the final gear ratio, which means you can have more top end speed OR more acceleration. (not both)
I changed the front sprocket on my FZ1 and it made a noticable difference in how easy it wheelies. Really pulls hard now.
The trade off is higher RPM in all gears and reduced (by a few mph) top end speed.

Same as above, install yourself and download the map for free from DJ. With just a slip on you aren't going to see a whole lot of difference in my opinion.

I'd wait and spend the money elsewhere until you end up with more done to the bike to make better use of the power commander.

btw if your just riding on the streeats a bigger sprocket will do more than enough. pay for full coverage instead of gizmos imho.
