2001 SV 650 (my track ), 2005 SV 650s

because I'd rather be thinking about bikes than work ... suggestions on my next bike?

So, I'm thinking next year I'm gonna convert my 2nd Gen SV650 into a track only bike. But that would mean I need something for commuting and maybe some nice long road trips.

Any suggestions?

I was thinking about a Triumph Thruxton ... but the milage seems really poor.

When you say long road trips, what do you mean? If you are considering like multi-day cross country you want something comfortable with a decent fairing and an easy way to mount luggage.

Hard lockable luggage is also nice on a commuter so you have a place to put your stuff

I would like to take one or two day trips eventually.

The thruxton gets 40-50 mpg depending on how you ride it. I get roughly 115 miles to the tank before switching to reserve on which I have 25-30 miles before I run out. One or two dayers with a tank bag and backpack are no problem. Of course once you ride it, you might turn it into your track . . .they are fun. Not as quick as the modern , but tons of fun.

huh? I've been hearing more in the mid 30's ... but if I could get it somewhere near my SV, that would be nice.

well, I know its prolly not your style, but my 500r is VERY comfy and gets 50mpg if I baby it.

I plan on making week long 3600 miles trips with it starting later this summer.

For the first few 2-3500 miles yea, but once the motor loosens up i average roughly 42 and i don't typically baby it. Ride one first though, the seating ain't for everyone.

I'm looking at the Concourse 14, lots of nice gadgets and tons of power @ 36-40mpg

THe new VFR 1200 would be cool.

Even if it is fugly, that is other people's problem. They have to look at it!

I get to ride it!
